My client is a growing Australian consumer electronics company with a global customer base.

They're currently looking for a senior Mechanical Engineer who has a focus on Product Design.

You will be a key member of their New Product Development team working on products from initial concept and design stages through to final production.
 
This role requires creativity, technical expertise, and a passion for delivering high quality products.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
  • End-to-end delivery of projects, from initial briefing to production, within a dynamic product development environment.
  • Possess a robust understanding of product compliance requirements and testing methodologies.
  • Conduct performance testing and quality control measures to uphold product excellence.
  • Proactively utilize initiative and creativity to influence internal team strategies and drive innovation.
  • Offer valuable suggestions to shape the future pipeline of product offerings.
  • Drive product development initiatives from concept to mass production, overseeing the design, development, and specification of parts, components, and assemblies.
  • Utilize 3D software to generate and review designs, including technical drawings, engineering specifications, Bill of Materials, and related documentation.
  • Collaborate effectively on Request for Quotation (RFQ), Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), and Quality Assurance (QA) processes.
  • Fabricate prototypes using modern prototyping tools and processes for thorough evaluation and testing.
  • Assist in compliance and certification processes to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Provide valuable suggestions for the future pipeline of products and technologies. 
Qualifications and Experience
  • Demonstrated industry expertise in product design engineering within the consumer/technology sector, with a strong track record in problem-solving (experience in electromechanical domains is highly preferred).
  • Extensive experience across a range of manufacturing processes, including injection moulding, metal casting, metal fabrication, and CNC machining (nice to have).
  • Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring precision and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Proficient in CAD software, particularly advanced modelling in SolidWorks (required) and familiarity with OnShape (desirable).
